How CRS Rice Bowl Helps Your Local Community
CRS Rice Bowl is the Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services. The simple cardboard box is a tool for collecting Lenten alms and comes with a Lenten calendar that guides families through the 40 days of Lent with activities, reflections, and stories. Your donation will support the work of CRS in roughly 45 different countries each year. 25% of all donations to CRS Rice Bowl stay in the local diocese, supporting hunger and poverty alleviation efforts. Please consider supporting our worldwide community in need. Rice Bowls will be distributed at Masses next weekend. The collection will conclude Easter Sunday.
How are your donations used?
75 percent of your gift supports CRS’ programs around the world. Some examples include:
- Agriculture projects help farmers improve harvests
- Water and sanitation projects bring clean water to communities
- Microfinance projects support small businesses
- Mother and child health projects offer health and nutrition services
- Education projects provide resources and training
25 percent of your donations go to hunger and poverty alleviation efforts in your own community.
Please put your Rice Bowl in the bin at the back of church. Collection will take place until Easter Sunday. Thank you in advance for your generous support! To learn more click on the graphic below.
