Ministry of Lector

The Lord God has given me a well-trained tongue
that I might know how to speak to the weary
a word that will rouse them. – Isaiah 50:4, NAB

At the Liturgy of the Word at Mass, we believe that God continues to speak to His people. As such, the Word of God must be proclaimed with care so that people may hear the God who comforts and challenges. Lectors must have an articulate, loud and clear speaking voice and must be willing to go over the readings and other resources that will help them prepare for the weekend Masses. Training and formation is provided. Children and youth are encouraged to lector both at the Youth Masses and Regular Weekend Masses.
