Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary has this definition for the word, “revert”: to come or go back (to a former condition, period or subject). In this sense, a revert, or to be more specific, a Catholic revert is one returns to the Catholic faith.
Our journey to God involves faith. And faith allows us to ask questions to deepen our understanding and appreciation for this wonderful gift. At times, because of hurtful words, or painful experience, or dissatisfaction for answers given to us, we look and search for deeper meaning somewhere else – but only to be lead back by God to the Catholic faith. And yet this is not a mere return to a starting point but a renewed understanding and deeper appreciation of the same gift, the gift of the Christian faith.
